This match served as a huge opportunity for both teams. For Arsenal it was seen as a chance to pile further misery on their London rivals, while for Chelsea a win in a match of this magnetite would lift the doom and gloom around Stamford Bridge.
While it was still a less then convincing performance, results like these breed confidence, and Jose Mourinho and his counterparts will feel this can kindle their season as they look to start working their way up the table. It is only a matter of time before their undoubted quality will come to the fore.

Manchester City’s slip up to West Ham leaves the Blues sitting eight points behind the league leaders, hardly a surmountable advantage with so much of the season still to unfold. With some suggesting that Chelsea were already out of the title race, they might want to re-evaluate their predictions.
