Swansea and Everton both left goalless in Saturday’s match at the Liberty Stadium, after an inability to capitalise on several good chances at either end.
In a decent display, Swansea will be happier with the point earned since the hosts had better opportunities throughout the match. Romelu Lukaku was in great position to score, but only Ashley Williams was able to clear his shot in the mid-second half. Ross Barkley provided a lot for his teammates, creating six chances, forcing his markers to move across the whole pitch.
Yet, Garry Monk’s side managed to save their net as most of the Toffees’ shots were off-target. Bafetimbi Gomis could have scored twice in the first-half, but both times Tim Howard was well positioned for a save. The game was marked by another poor performance from Gylfi Sigurdsson and Andre Ayew, but credit goes to James McCarthy and Brendon Galloway as well. The best players on the pitch were central-defenders, especially John Stones and Ashley Williams, who were stopping opponents with reliability.
