Andre Schubert’s dream start as Borussia Monchengladbach manager continued overnight as Die Fohlen won their fourth straight league match since he took over with a 5-1 thumping of Eintracht Frankfurt.

Doubles from both Andre Hahn, Raffael and Mahmoud Dahoud  gave the away side a much-needed win while Alexander Meier nabbed a goal for the hosts from the Penalty Spot early on. Gladbach now move up to an extraordinary tenth in the Bundesliga following this match, while Frankfurt sink to 13th having not recorded a win since matchday four.

Eintracht Frankfurt:

Lukas Hradecky – 5: A poor night for any goalie to concede five, Hradecky was unlucky on one or two occasions, but this was a night to forget for the Finn.

Aleksandar Ignjovski – 5: Been a part of a defence that concedes five is never ideal, and the right-back struggled throughout, losing possession twice and failing to hit his passes nearly 40% of the time. A poor showing.

David Abraham – 5.5: Struggled for parts of the game, failing to make a tackle, but was strong in the air when challenged and played the ball out from the back well.

Marco Russ – 5.5: Similar to Abraham, but made a couple of good tackles as well as showing strength in the air, but gave away the penalty at the end to round off a disappointing showing.

Bastian Oczipka – 5: Like much of his team, Frankfurt’s left-back struggled to impose himself on the match, losing possession a few times, and failing to stop the rot as Gladbach took over.

Johannes Flum – 5.5: In a midfield three shielding the defence, Flum failed to get into the game, despite a couple of good dribbles and wasn’t helped by his midfield partners.

Stefen Reinartz – 6: Tackled well and was strong in the air in an otherwise flimsy midfield, but could do nothing to stop the waves of Gladbach attacks.

Marc Stendera – 5.5: Failed to make a tackle throughout while stationed in central midfield, and his passing left a bit to be desired also.

Alexander Meier – 6.5: One of few bright spots on a bleak evening, the Frankfurt captain scored their only goal from the Penalty spot after sending Castaignos through on goal but was also their driving force forward.

Haris Seferovic – 5.5: Was strong in the air throughout, but his most noticeable moment came when he was yellow carded, which gives an indication of his performance.

Luc Castaignos – 6: Won the penalty that pulled Frankfurt back into the game, but struggled to impose otherwise.
