Dynamo Kiev chairman Ihor Surkis has revealed that Everton’s pursuit of Andriy Yarmolenko fell through in the dying stages of deadline day.

The 26-year-old winger was subject to a late bid from Everton with Ukraine giants Dynamo Kiev willing to accept the fee, they simply run out of time.

“Everton submitted a bid for Yarmolenko one hour and 15 minutes prior to the deadline,” Surkis said.

“I was satisfied with the transfer price but we did not have time to even draw up a contract. I was satisfied with the offer as long as Andriy was. Transfer bids cannot be submitted that late,” he added.

Everton struggled to seal a number of deals on deadline day as offers for Cuco Martina, Lamine Kone and Moussa Sissoko also fell through.

The Merseyside club bid for the winger 12 months ago but have again come up empty handed on the exciting prospect.

With their newly established wealth it remains to be seen whether Everton will again bid for Yarmolenko when the transfer window reopens in January.

With an impressive goal scoring record for club and country the Ukrainian would certainly have bolstered the Toffies attacking options in what was a limited transfer window for the club.
