Leverkusen a better fit for crafty Kampl

Summer signing Kevin Kampl shined in the showdown, engineering two assists which were complimented by an all round potent exhibit. In this match alone, Kampl contributed more assists than he did in his 13 game tenure at Borussia Dortmund in 2014-15.

The Slovenian has now produced two goals and four assists in 14 outings. In the absence of Lars Bender, Kampl has started to build a marvellous partnership with Kramer, both players occupy the defensive midfield roles. The energy and defensive efforts of the German, merged with the Slovenian’s creativity is effective, as showcased against Frankfurt.

Hernandez cannot stop scoring

The 27-year-old has now netted in seven consecutive appearances for his new beloved club. His pivotal double takes his tally to ten in those last seven matches. Overall he has 12 in 15.

His first goal was probably the easiest one he has ever buried. A miskick from a Frankfurt defender allowed Hernandez to poach it, as lucky as it was, it was great positioning from the Mexican none the less. His second was exceptional if you watch how he picks up the ball deep in midfield before orchestrating delightful one-two pass exchanges with Calhanoglu.
