Brisbane Roar and Melbourne City have shared the spoils in an error-prone 1-1 draw at Suncorp Stadium on Friday night.

Brisbane Roar

Jamie Young – 3: Endured the definition of an indifferent evening. Made some good saves, but slipped comically to allow City in although they could not punish the error on that occasion. Played an overeager ball to Daniel Bowles who was not ready to receive it shortly after half time, allowing Mooy to shoot and Novillo to tap in the rebound.

Shane Steffanuto – 4.5: Ineffectual largely thanks to the Melbourne City press.

Jack Hingert – 4.5: Influence was curbed by City’s high line.

Daniel Bowles – 7: Enjoyed a steady game in the heart of defence, though spent the final 12 minutes on the left. Young’s premature ball-cum-turnover hit his heels, though that was hardly the fault of his.

Jade North – 7: Like Bowles, North was solid at the back and was not at fault for the goal.

Matt McKay – 5.5: Overseas minutes may have taken their toll, but worked hard as usual.

Thomas Broich – 7: The German’s game was mostly low-key aside from a delightful assist over the top of the City defence that put Henrique through.

Corona – 4: An unusually poor match from the 34-year-old, offering little going forward.

Dimi Petratos – 6: Occupied good positions and looked Brisbane’s most dangerous attacker, but his decision-making let him down at times.

Jamie Maclaren – 4: A quiet night, but the service to him was extremely poor. Replaced with a quarter of an hour to play.

Brandon Borello – 3.5: Looked careless, making some sloppy passes and gave away possession far too easily. Substituted after 58 minutes.

Substitutes

Henrique – 7.5: Replaced the ineffective Borello and the fan favourite provided exactly what he was brought on for – a goal, sumptuously created by Broich.
