A rampant Reds stormed past Melbourne City to progress through to next Sunday’s A-League grand final.

Who were the most influential players on the night?

Bruce Djite (Adelaide United) – An absolutely outstanding performance from one of the Adelaide fan favourites. His hold-up play in the first half was second to none and he tracked back and won the ball at crucial times to stop City from playing out. But his night did not end there; he perfectly placed the ball into the top-right corner to open the scoring for the Reds just after the half time break and doubled the hosts’ lead from the spot on the hour mark. He wrapped up his performance with an assist in the dying seconds of the match.

How Twitter reacted to Adelaide United’s 4-1 win against Melbourne City

Bruce Kamau (Adelaide United) – The youngster produced a special performance at a very big moment. He continually ran at Jack Clisby and was causing him all sorts of trouble throughout the match. His pace and skill caused the City back four issues especially during the second half. It was Kamau that was brought down in the box that won Adelaide the penalty after a wonderful bit of skill sold Clisby.

Aaron Mooy (Melbourne City) – In what will most likely be his last game for Melbourne City, Mooy dished up another great performance and will feel hard done by to be on the losing side by such a large margin. His passing game was the best on the park as he looked to try and get City going in a real box to box performance as he made a number of tackles and interceptions throughout the match. In the end though, his hard work was not enough to spark anything for City as they bow out at the semi-final stage.
