Top Three Performers

Kosta Barbarouses (Melbourne Victory) – Man of the match performance tonight from the young New Zealander. Looked prominent down the right side for the whole first half and then got the goal right after the break to seemingly put the Victory on the front foot.

Gui Finkler (Melbourne Victory) – Make that three great performances in a row for Finkler. The Brazilian import has come into his own towards the end of the season and if the rest of the team can rally to find some form heading into the finals, he might give them the spark for back-to-back championships. Pity he can’t get those free kicks to dip though, that’s three set pieces off the crossbar in three league outings!

David Carney (Sydney FC) – Not the best showing from the Sky Blues as an outfit tonight, although should be thoroughly commended on their steely resolve in the last half an hour, down to ten men and down a goal to the champions. None more so than Carney who was at the forefront of the fight back for Graham Arnold’s men before getting the crucial goal on the counter to steal a point. Honourable mention to Brandon O’Neill who gave a great account of himself in a 90-minute effort and is unlucky to miss out on a top three spot.
