Nightmare or dream? This match says it all about which side you support in the Manchester Derby. This game was made infamous by Mario Balotelli’s “Why Always Me?” t-shirt he pulled out after he had opened the scoring for the visitors.
It was a valid question that afternoon as Balotelli and company ran rings around a rattled United defence. A Jonny Evans red card and some suicidal attacking play from the back opened the floodgates and City well and truly put United to the sword with a flurry of late goals. The 6-1 loss was Ferguson’s worst ever as United manager and United’s worst performance at home for more than 50 years. The blowout proved to be crucial, as City claimed their first Premier League title on goal difference over United at the end of that season.
