Outside90’s Fraser Stewart breaks down all the major talking points from the latest round of Swiss Super League action.

Sion moves up to third place FC

Sion recorded back-to-back victories with their 3-0 result over Lugano at the Stade Tourbillon.

The game did not really open up until the hosts had a golden opportunity to take the lead with a free-kick in the 56th minute. The service was spot on, however, Vero Salatic’s header came off the post and was stopped just before going over the line.

10 minutes later Orlando Urbano pushed down Moussa Konate in a moment of madness and saw his second yellow of the game. It was a clear penalty and Salatic, who had the chance to open the scoring earlier in the game, took up the responsibility and coolly converted the spot kick, sending Francesco Russo in the wrong direction.

Playing with an open style, FC Sion expertly moved the ball around the box when a pass finally fell for Edimilson Fernandes, who ran onto the opening ball and sent it home. It was a gaol that the likes of Barcelona would have been proud of.

Four minutes later the result was sealed, this time Konate was part of the build-up, intelligently flicking the ball on for Geoffrey Bia, who ran on and nutmegged the goalkeeper with his first touch.
