Another loss to a big team

One would think that after an 8-0 thrashing in the Champions League, Real would again be hungry for another win domestically.

It seems not.

In fact the best way to describe their first half against Villarreal was lacklustre. Not only did they begin the match slowly but conceded within the first 10 minutes of play. Hence they spent most of the game playing catch-up to a team whose defensive holes began to show in the second term.

Los Galacticos’ intensity was still there and perhaps it is for this reason that they managed to have a number of shots on goal, yet the finishing was below par.

Creativity was evidently absent from Los Blancos which in turn made the football boring and lifeless as well as quite predictable.

There was an apparent lack of cohesion of the squad considering the strong intent of the host team that is adamant on a top four finish this season.

It is Real’s worst start since the 2008-09 La Liga season. That is saying something.
