Liverpool managed to earn a point after 2-2 with West Bromwich Albion at Anfield on Sunday.

Liverpool dominated the contest but West Brom still managed to strike twice. Jordan Henderson netted the opener in what was his first start since his terrible injury in August. Just under 10 minutes later, Craig Dawson levelled the match. It was 1-1 at half-time, the visitors undoubtedly the happier squad in the dressing rooms. In the 73rd minute, Olsson guided his headed attempt past a few opposing players and Simon Mignolet to give his side the lead.

Dejan Lovren suffered a horrible injury after a terrible Craig Gardener challenge, the Croatian was stretchered off in the 79th minute, a huge loss for the Merseyside club as Lovren has been impressive since the arrival of Jurgen Klopp.

Divock Origi was summoned in the place of Lovren before his strike from outside the box was deflected into the back of the net to rescue a point in front of the Kop, a bizarre silver-lining.

The introduction of Origi was extremely beneficial for the Reds as the Belgian was simply vigorous. His intense passion was evident after his late heroics when he touched the Liverpool crest on his kit.

It was a terrific effort from West Brom and it may not be a great result for Klopp and his army but there were some positive signs. Ultimately, it was Mignolet’s poor error that cost Liverpool dearly and the shot-stopper is walking on thin ice.

Coutinho is integral to Liverpool and their top four ambitions

Obviously the Brazilian is already the key man at the Reds – without him the creativity diminishes, as seen in Newcastle last week during his absence.

Coutinho was behind most of Liverpool’s best chances against West Brom. The maestro also showed desire to drop deeper to win possession and present himself as a great passing option.

Coutinho was pivotal in the goal as his delicate chip into the box found Adam Lallana who headed it down to the feet of Henderson, resulting in an easy finish. The talented playmaker had close to half-a-dozen cracks at goal, although his attempts were not potent, Coutinho did manoeuvre himself into a paddock of space to unleash those attempts.
