Real Madrid have easily overcome Swedish minnows Malmo 8-0 on matchday six of the UEFA Champions League at the Santiago Bernebau.

Los Blancos had already qualified for the round of 16 and the clash against the Swedes was indeed to prove that they still had their typical Spanish flare. Well, they proved just that as Los Galacticos tore apart Malmo who were vying for a Europa League place.

Frenchman Karim Benzema opened the scoring for the hosts as he scored the opening brace, giving the Spaniards an already generous lead.

Cristiano Ronaldo assisted the first two goals and was threatening to score several of his own and he did so with his trademark free kick which went under the gloves of the keeper. Half time could not have come quick enough for Malmo but unfortunately the second term did not gift them any luck at all.

It took the hosts only three minutes after the break to add another to the scoreboard with the Portuguese converting a simple tap-in.

While Vladimir Rocic forced goalkeeper Kiko Casilla into a save – perhaps his only one for the night- it was Los Blancos who had all the momentum.

Ronaldo again capitalised on poor goalkeeping to score his third of the evening and thumped in a Benzema back-heel at the far post to score his fourth, and yes, break his own record.

Mateo Kovacic and Benzema scored the final two to see Real qualify in top position for the round of 16.
