Troubled Nix

As ‘Save the Nix’ banners were shown across the stadium in the home and away stands, the Phoenix players on the pitch were obviously affected by the off-field drama. Their focus was clearly gone for this game, as they were run ragged by a rampant Victory side who have always been stellar at the Etihad. With another difficult trip to Central Coast to follow, and still no resolution to the license saga, can Ernie Merrick and his players recover in time?

Melbourne bounces back, looks to be front-runners again

After such a one-sided game the Victory can now look forward to a FFA Cup final match this weekend. From the backline to the hitmen Kevin Muscat’s side looks like a team who deserves to be challenging for their third trophy this season. This was a performance that was required by the champions and they gave the excellent number of 24,934 fans who showed up to the Etihad a worthy spectacle and a quality showing to claim the three points at a canter.
