Real Madrid overcaome Deportivo La Coruna 2-0 at the Riazor stadium on Saturday evening.

A run of Barcelona losses allowed Real to be back in the running for the La Liga title and their commanding performance highlighted their desire to secure the top position.

The one point deficit did not faze coach Zinedine Zidane’s men, as his side soon took the lead through another Cristiano Ronaldo goal- his 50th for the season in all competitions. Some great link up play by Gareth Bale and Karim Benzema easily set up the Portuguese international, who slotted the ball into the back of the net.

The hosts sat deep on the pitch and appeared content to absorb the pressure of their opponents, yet a Ronaldo header sealed the deal for the Galacticos with the result never really lookng beyond doubt.

However, a Luis Suarez hat-trick for Catalans which saw Real’s rivals secure the domestic title would surely have dampened the victory.

Welcoming back Real’s deadly trio

Bale, Benzema and Ronaldo combined create a lethal front-three to rival that of Barcelona’s front three of Neymar, Lionel Messi and Suarez.

The trio had not played together in almost a month, however, their on pitch chemistry was evident as they bolstered the side’s creative and attacking prowess.

Bale alone has created a total of 50 chances in 25 appearances for the Los Blancos.

Indeed, their comeback could not have come at a better time for the side given their upcoming UEFA Champions League final clash with same town rivals Atletico Madrid.

Onwards and upwards for the deadly La Liga superstars.

All eyes on the Champions League prize

Barcelona took the title with just one point separating them from Real, whom were most definitely pipped at the post.

However, their focus has immediately shifted to that of the impending Champions League final in Milan.

The Rojiblancos will be out for revenge for their 2014 final loss to the Madridistas, yet it is Los Galacticos whom seek to prove their strengths against an in form Atletico side.

Coach Diego Simeone’s men have won all six La Liga encounters with their crosstown rivals since the 2013 Copa Del Rey final.

Atletico boast a united front with an intense physical game, which at it’s peak can overcome any opponent.

The imbalance, as well as a lack of midfield strength at certain times, may be problematic for Real Madrid.

They will be areas Atletico are keen to exploit, however, the brilliance of individual players in Zidan’es setup cannot be ignored, as it has often won them crucial matches.

Of course the big question is – can the Madridistas make it 11?
