Wolves need to focus on positives

Take out nine minutes of this game and you find it very possible that Wolfsburg could have stolen the points away to Bayern – simplistic view, but the supporters need to hang their hat on something. The first half was full of creativity, as the away side managed to keep the wide Bayern play style under firm control. The first half saw the visitors implement a clear plan to shut down the Bayern attack, and it worked beautifully – it was a defensive blueprint that could serve the side well in Europe this season.

A real highlight was Joshua Guilavogui, who has developed into a superb play making defensive midfielder and compliments the experienced Luiz Gustavo.

The ever improving relationship of Julian Draxler and those around him also shows signs of promise, with the young German enjoying finding small pockets of space to pick holes in the Bayern defence. A demoralising defeat on his 22nd birthday shouldn’t dampen the talented striker’s night, although inevitably it will be a night to forget for Draxler and his colleagues.
