Wellington Phoenix players have seen their personal items go missing after falling victim to an incident of theft at the club’s training facilities last Tuesday.

NewsHub reports that the team returned to the change rooms following their morning session to discover some of their belongings had been snatched.

Defender Tom Doyle was one of the players targeted with his wallet taken, while two other members of the squad had their wristwatches stolen.

“I thought my personal items would be safe in our changing rooms, but obviously not,” Doyle told reporters.

“I would really like my property back and next time I will be keeping an eye on my gear.

“This is the first time anything like this has happened. The gates are normally closed but they are left unlocked so that when the balls go over the fence they can run around and get the balls,” says Phoenix media manger Russel Gray.

“There’s always someone wandering around, I’m normally wandering around so they would have had a very short window of opportunity.”

The potential suspect, who is yet to be identified, was incidentally caught on camera by a film crew who were recording the Phoenix’s training session.
