If you thought you had seen it all on a football pitch – think again.

Football took inspiration from the world of wrestling in the FFA Cup last night in a moment that is sure to be replayed over and over again.

Randy Orton would have been proud of this effort by Lions FC goalscorer Andre Bonotto, who following a converted second-half penalty, appeared to roundhouse a Croydon Kings opponent en-route to celebration.

Not much was made of the incident at the time, but it went viral on social media with football fans loving the #MagicOfTheCup.

It was the Queensland side’s debut in the competition and their 2-1 win came as a major upset against the South Australian opposition, who were heavily fancied heading into the match.

The Lions started the better of the two sides away from home before Croydon gradually settled into the game.

Goals either side of half-time from Shoheel Khan and Bonotto were enough for the Lions to progress to the Round of 16, despite a late strike from Kings skipper Luke Klimek.
