What has happened to Eden Hazard?
The Belgian, who was the major influence behind Chelsea’s success in 2014-15 has gone dead silent since the beginning of the new season, failing to find the net in five domestic games thus far while being man-marked out of contests by much-larger bodied defenders. Normally an ice-cold specialist from the spot, Hazard’s confidence issues were illustrated in the fifth minute when his penalty was rocketed over the crossbar and into the rows of supporters.
Although his performance improved as Chelsea’s lead increased, playing a big part in the build-up to the final goal from Fabregas, Hazard is the lynchpin of Jose Mourinho’s attack and if they are to make a meaningful run in this competition his output will need to be much more dangerous.
