2 – Season 2007-08 – Central Coast Mariners defeat Newcastle Jets 3-2 (AET) over two legs
The major semi-final between the top two sides in the league that year was perhaps the best edition of the F3 Derby the A-League has seen. The Jets were poised to advance to the grand final after a 2-0 win at home thanks to goals from Adam and Joel Griffiths.
As the sides played out the second leg at Bluetongue Stadium, the Mariners came back and were able to force extra time. Adam Kwasnik got things rolling with a goal just after the half hour mark before Sasho Petrovski brought the aggregate score level with 15 minutes to play in the game. He would be the difference in extra time as well, scoring in the 95th minute to put the Mariners in front. They would hold on and host the Jets in the grand final two weeks later in a game that was fairly eventful in its own right as the Jets got their revenge, winning the championship 1-0 at the Sydney Football Stadium.
