Tarek Elrich (Adelaide United)
After a poor spell at Western Sydney leading to an eventual release, Tarek Elrich’s rapid rise has been well documented and well deserved. The 28-year-old found new life under the tutelage of since-departed Spaniard Josep Gombau and has become one of the best, if not the best, full-back in Australia.
Elrich’s incredible form was rewarded with a first cap for the Socceroos in a friendly against Macedonia in Skopje. Since then, the ex-Newcastle Jet has been a regular fixture in Ange Postecoglou’s selection for Australia’s ongoing World Cup qualifiers.
