Sydney FC and Andrew Hoole part ways

Sydney FC have announced they have mutually terminated Andrew Hoole’s contract so the youngster can pursue “another opportunity”.

The former Newcastle Jet had one more year left to run on his deal having joined the Sky Blues in 2015, and since then played 21 games in all competitions for Sydney, including the A-League, FFA Cup and Asian Champions League.

Hoole’s departure is the latest of an increasing number of squad changes at Sydney FC, with eight players already cut from the 2015-16 team that failed to reach the finals, finishing seventh.

Socceroo Alex Wilkinson and former Melbourne City left-back Michael Zullo have already been added to Graham Arnold’s side for the new season, which Sydney FC will begin with a historic away derby at ANZ Stadium against Western Sydney Wanderers.

Elsewhere, one of Sydney’s culled players, Chris Naumoff, has found a new home with CD Numancia in the Spanish Segunda.
