Stoke City and Everton have joined a last minute race to secure striker Wilfried Bony before this week’s transfer window deadline.
Firmly in the surplus column at Manchester City, the Ivorian is expected to make a lucrative move to the Chinese Super League in January.
In need of striking options, West Ham were interested in signing Bony on a short-term loan until the new year, but according to the Mirror now face competition from other Premier League clubs for the 27-year-old’s signature.
Ronald Koeman is ready to spend £20 million to sign Bony to Everton on a permanent basis, while the Potters may look to the City forward as a last resort – sitting bottom of the table and with their desired deal for West Brom’s Saido Berahino looking increasingly unlikely.
Bony moved to Manchester City at the beginning of 2015 for £28 million after impressing with Swansea City, but has only returned a total of six goals from 36 appearances and is yet to see any Premier League minutes under new manager Pep Guardiola.
