Both teams started slow Considering the quality of the teams in this Serie A clash it was a very tentative start to the game, with neither doing much to gain an advantage. There was a lot of poorly turned over possession, coming from even more simple passes. Napoli took around 20 minutes to put any real pressure on the visiting defence, while Fiorentina were content to just sit back behind the ball in an attempt to give nothing away on the cheap. This is particularly important when there is three at the back against the force of Higuain and Insigne. Hamsik to a more attacking role For this match Napoli went back to their normal 4-2-3-1 formation, after a couple of weeks in a 4-3-3. This meant that Marek Hamsik was able to play directly behind Gonzalo Higuain, with a bit of freedom to roam as well. This is a position better suited to the Slovak. Even though he can defend fairly well, the roaming attacking position allows his creativity to come out more and allows for more of an attacking impact on the game, yet he still came deep to retrieve the ball and be involved more. Although by full time they had changed back to the 4-3-3 and Hamsik was playing a little deeper again, he will give Sarri plenty to think about as the coach tries to find the perfect setup.
