Possession isn’t always everything

The game ended up closer than it could have been but Bologna showed that possession isn’t everything. Having a mere 29% of the ball in the first half to lead 2-0 at the break and then at full time to have had only 32% of possession meant they made the most of their time on the ball.

Napoli didn’t really pepper the Bologna goal with shots but did control the game in possession, yet, they were always on the back foot after a very fast and pressing start from Bologna which put the Neapolitans under early pressure and it paid off.

Higuain still manages to continue his scoring form

Most would have written Napoli off while watching the game, expecting them not to gain a point or even score until one extremely difficult and world class finish by Gonzalo Higuain gave them a sniff.

Frustrated all game and missing a few he would have been expected to at least get on target earlier in the game, Higuain pulled off two moments late in the game, meaning the five minutes of injury time were heart-stopping for Bologna. The two late goals now take Higuain to a total of 14 goals in 15 games in the league, which almost has him at a goal a game.
