German winger Serge Gnabry’s time at Arsenal is over as he is set to complete a deadline day move to Werder Bremen.

According to Mirror Football reporter Alex Richards, Gnabry will be unveiled by his new club today after passing a medical.

The player’s father Jean-Hermann Gnabry also confirmed the move to Stuttgarter Zeitung, however, he expressed his disappointment his son did not try and fight for a place in the Arsenal squad.

“I would have preferred if had Serge come out on top at Arsenal. He’s still under contract until 2017, but has already left in his thoughts. Bayern are just like Arsenal. He’ll have tough competition there as well. He should have been more patient here in London,” he said.

The sale is reportedly worth €5 million to Arsenal, but Gnabry’s stay at Bremen may be short lived with German Publication Kicker claiming that Bayern Munich, who were initially interested in buying the player from the Gunners, have a year option to secure him at approximately the same price.

Arsenal fans are frustrated with losing the 21-year-old, who showcased his talent by scoring six goals at the Olympics in Germany’s silver medal campaign.

He made his first team debut in November 2012 but 2013-2014 was his breakout campaign, making nine appearances and scoring a goal before an injury halted his rise.

Last season he was sent out to West Bromwich Albion to gain match fitness, however, he only made one appearance before being recalled to Arsenal in January.

Bremen lost their first game of the Bundesliga season 6-0 to Bayern and face FC Augsburg at home after the international break.
