Real Madrid overcame a resolute Paris Saint Germain 1-0 in Matchday four of the UEFA Champions League at the Santiago Bernebau on Tuesday evening.
The match began with the same defensive-minded approaches by both teams, much like their previous fixture two weeks ago.
However, the flow of the game was interrupted by a series of injuries sustained on both sides early on in the first-half. As the match progressed it was PSG whom controlled the majority of possession, with forwards Edinson Cavani and Zlatan Ibrahimović both having opportunities to gain the lead.
It was not until an injured Marcelo was replaced by Nacho that the tides turned.
The Spaniard secured his side’s spot in the round of 16 with an opportune finish which deflected-off defender Thiago Silva. Real now sit atop of Group A, with their French competitors in second.
