Andreas Christensen – 6: The Chelsea loanee was Gladbach’s best defender on the night, making a few crucial interceptions.

Havard Nordvelt – 5: Could not deal with City when they upped their play towards the end of the game.

Nico Elvedi – 6: After a good display in the first half, the 19-year-old let his performance slip in the second 45.

Oscar Wendt – 5: Was caught out of place and gave away a lot of space on the wings.

Mahmoud Dahoud – 6.5: The 19-year-old put in another strong performance in midfield, doing well to link up the play.

Granit Xhaka – 6: The Swiss international did well, especially in the first half to help his side take the lead.

Julian Korb – 6.5: Did well to hammer in his side’s opener but struggled to get into the game after that.

Fabian Johnson – 6.5: Was part of the front three that gave the City defence a torrid time in the first half.

Lars Stindl – 6: Tireless performance from the German who pressed the City defence, though with no end product.

Raffael – 7: Was quick to react and score Gladbach’s second, while he posed a continuous threat to the City defence.
