Manchester City lost at home for the second week in a row after Tottenham came out victorious to maintain their chase for the title.

A Harry Kane penalty opened the scoring before Kalechi Iheanacho equalised with 15 minutes of the game to spare. Christian Eriksen was the late hero for Spurs after his calm finish gave his side the lead in the 83rd minute.

Leicester City’s loss to Arsenal earlier on meant that City still maintained the same gap from the top of the league but are now four points clear of third place.

Manchester City

Joe Hart – 5: Could not be blamed for either goal and otherwise made just one save throughout the match.

Pablo Zabaleta – 6: Covered some distance down the right-hand flank but could not produce something meaningful. Was decent in the tackle.

Nicolas Otamendi – 5: The Argentine was partially to blame for Eriksen’s winner but almost made up for it when he nearly scored in the dying seconds but for a magnificent stop by Hugo Lloris.

Vincent Kompany – 6: His return to the starting XI will come as a relief to all City fans and the Belgian was solid in the way he controlled his back four.

Gael Clichy – 6.5: The Frenchman had a dull first half but put in a brilliant cross to set up Iheanacho’s goal in the second and was withdrawn shortly after.

Fernando – 6.5: Was strong in the tackle and did a good job alongside Fernandinho to help strengthen City’s midfield.

Fernandinho –6: Like Fernando, the Brazilian was equally strong in the middle of the park to cut out any threats.

Yaya Toure – 6.5: Had a relatively quiet evening according to his standards and nearly got on the scoresheet with a brilliantly taken free kick only to be denied by the woodwork.

David Silva – 6: The Spaniard was as always good on the ball and he played a part in the build-up to City’s equaliser but did not threaten Lloris’ goal too much.

Raheem Sterling – 5: Did not do too much moving forward and was extremely unlucky to give away the penalty for Spurs’ opener after being harshly adjudged for handball.

Sergio Aguero – 5: A poor outing for the otherwise brilliant Argentine who did not threaten the goal as much as his manager would have liked.

Substitutes

Kalechi Iheanacho – 7: Banged home the winner off Clichy’s low cross into the box. The youngster has shown real promise this season.

Aleksandar Kolarov – 6: Came on for the final 15 minutes and whipped in some good crosses towards the end.
