Western Sydney Wanderers were too good for Edgeworth, progressing through to the FFA Cup quarter-finals after a commanding 5-1 win at Magic Park earlier tonight.
Edgeworth Eagles
Jim Fogarty GK – 4: Started brightly, but lost it once the first goal sailed through. Things went from bad to worse for the goalkeeper, conceding five overall.
Domenico Bizzarri – 4: Struggled for most of the match. Was tasked with marking Mitch Nichols and failed the test.
Ayden Brice – 3: Could not contain the Wanderers attack and looked lacklustre overall.
Josh Evans – 5: The captain had some great last ditch defending in the first-half, until the floodgates opened in the latter stages.
Aaron McLoughlin – 4: Struggled against Scott Neville and looked lost at times, did not bother marking Brendan Santalab when he scored his first goal.
Lachlan Pasquale – 3: Received a yellow card early on. Was too eager and physical, before being substituted in the 54th minute by Gardner.
Brody Taylor – 6: Never stopped running. Had a half chance from a Western Sydney defensive mix-up, but shot early and went wide.
Keanu Moore – 5: Proved a handful at times, creating some chances early on.
Dylan Holz – 5: Had a chance to score on the counter early on, yet was well smothered by Redmayne. Great work rate but fouled in dangerous areas. Replaced in the 76th minute.
Daniel McBreen – 7: Kept quiet until the hour-mark, scoring a great goal to give the Eagles some hope for a late charge, that was not to be.
Bren Abbott-Hammel – 4: Booked in the 55th minute, but relatively quiet otherwise.
Substitutes
Joshua Low GK – NA:
Keg Moriyasu – 6: Replaced Taylor in the 68th minute, unable to get much going besides one scoring chance from a header.
Aden Gardner – 6: Came on for Pasquale in 54th minute, had a chance to score late on but it slid wide.
Daniel Minors – NA:
Patrick Wheeler – NA: Replaced Holz in 76th minute, unable to have much impact.
Western Sydney Wanderers
Andrew Redmayne – 7: Smothered a decent Edgeworth attack in the first-half. Not much he could do about McBreen’s goal in the second, let down by his defence.
Nikolai Topor-Stanley – 5: Looked shaky at times in at the back, appeared tired.
Brendan Hamill – 7: Thrust into the left Back role and struggled with it. Scored the second Wanderers goal though.
Jonathan Aspropotamitis – 6: Had an on-and-off night, looking good at times but also a step behind on occasion. Got caught on the counter a bit.
Scott Neville – 8: Scored two goals either side of the half, looked excellent for most of the match.
Dimas Delgado – 7: Pulled the strings in the midfield for the first-half, substituted for Pinatares after the break. Earned an assist for the first Neville goal.
Kearyn Baccus – 6: Earned a silly yellow card. Started slow but woke up in the second-half a bit.
Mitch Nichols – 8: Began fairly quiet, perked up in the latter stages and looked good making a nuisance of himself. Earned assists for Hamill’s and Santalab’s second goals.
Steven Lustica – 7: Produced some excellent crosses and free-kicks throughout the match. Assisted Neville’s second goal.
Lachlan Scott – 5: Had a few chances to set things up, but the final touch let him down. Saw a yellow in the first-half and was replaced by Santalab at the 64-minute mark.
Jumpei Kusukami – 8: A strong debut, had some great chances early on and threaded some nice passes. Also made some great turns.
Substitutes
Jarred Tyson GK – NA:
Shannon Cole – 5 : Replaced Kusukami late on, did not have much to do though.
Brendon Santalab – 8: Came on in the 64th minute and was a menace as usual, netting two goals for the Wanderers.
Bruno Pinatares – 8: Came on for the second-half, nearly scored a couple of times and looked good in the midfield.
Aritz Borda – : NA
