Manchester City’s 3-1 win against West Ham may come at a significant cost, with star striker Sergio Aguero in the headlines for a stray elbow to the face of Winston Reid.

Pep Guardiola’s men produced a scintillating first half performance which set them on their way to victory, however Aguero’s moment of madness was the key talking point.

City face an absorbing derby against Manchester City after the international break and face a nervous wait to see if their Argentinean striker will be available.

Guardiola was philosophical about the incident in his post-match press conference as he chose to keep a lid on the contentious situation.

“I’m new here (in England) so I don’t know it all works (retrospective action) and I didn’t the incident,” he said.

“Hopefully nothing happened and believe me I didn’t see it, but if it happens we accept it and adapt.”

The FA have confirmed to the media they are waiting to read the referee’s report before making a decision about whether they will take disciplinary action.

It would be a crushing blow to lose Aguero ahead of a hugely significant Manchester derby.
