Bruno Fornaroli’s double was enough for City to progress through to the semi finals at the expense of Perth Glory.

The most influential players on the night are listed below.

Bruno Fornaroli (Melbourne City) – What a performance from the most lethal striker in the league. Finals time is when you need your big players to step up and the Uruguayan did just that. He opened the scoring just before the half time break with a spectacular overhead kick and sealed the win for the hosts with a sumptuous free kick late in the second half.

Anthony Caceres (Melbourne City) – Caceres worked his socks off all game and put together arguably his best performance in a City shirt. A real box to box midfield role as he was not only causing the Glory defenders all sorts of trouble going forward but he tracked back when needed and made a number of interventions to help break up attacks. He was subbed after 65 minutes after he ran himself into the ground.

Josh Risdon (Perth Glory) – It has been a breakthrough season for Risdon as he earned himself his first Socceroos call up and he did himself justice in this match. He managed to keep Garuccio relatively quiet on the left wing for City and he got forward very well, delivering a couple of dangerous crosses.
