Matildas striker Larissa Crummer is hopeful of translating her brilliant W-League form onto the international stage at the upcoming Rio Olympics.

Twenty-year-old Crummer enjoyed a sensational season with Melbourne City, netting 11 goals in only 12 appearances to help guide the newly formed team to an undefeated premiership/championship double. Her success was recognised at a personal level, awarded the Young Footballer of the Year at last month’s Dolan Warren Awards.

After sweeping aside the field in regional qualifying, the Matildas have shot up to fifth in the world rankings and are growing in belief that gold is a realistic target. Crummer is confident of replicating that run and wants to bring her own form to the Olympics.

“It’s been my best W-League season yet. If I can take that across to the Matildas and I help them win gold in Rio. We’ve set out to achieve gold,” she said.

“Absolutely (we’re a medal chance), we’ve had some great games, and coming back from the World Cup, we’re on a high buzz. We all believe that we can go all the way in Rio.

“We are quality.

“We’re fifth in the world and as Staj (coach Alen Stajcic) said, we want to be first or second or third. We’re not going to stop there, we’re always going to keep pushing and improving.”

The Matildas will face fellow Olympians New Zealand at Etihad Stadium on 7 June as a curtain-raiser and farewell before the Socceroos take on Greece.
