Barcelona (4-2-3-1)

Marc Andre ter Stegen – 4: Had a quiet evening deputising for Claudio Bravo, but the German yet again failed to seize his opportunity as he gifted a consolation to Levante.

Dani Alves- 6: The Brazilian made a solid return to the side following a spell out through injury. It’s no coincidence that his return saw Barca break their run of one-goal winning margins in La Liga. He was a threat down the right flank and played a part in the second goal.

Marc Bartra – 8: Levante’s attacking threat was so minimal that Bartra could have gone and played up front, and it was a moment of maraudery that saw the centre-back open the scoring to cap a fine move that he started.

Javier Mascherano – 6: Generally solid alongside Bartra but, as always in this position, he looked vulnerable at times, including being out of position when Ghilas should have put Levante in front.

Adriano – 5: Had big boots to fill as Barca allowed Jordi Alba a rest, but the Brazilian didn’t give Alba sleepless nights with this performance. He didn’t do much wrong, but he struggled to link up with Neymar and was wasteful in possession.

Sergio Busquets – 5: Seemed somewhat of a waste of time having Busquets on the field, and he did very little.

Ivan Rakitic – 6: His usual neat and tidy self in possession, but it would have been good to see more from the Croat in support of the attack.

Neymar – 8: Looked bright on the left wing as he scored the second goal and won the penalty for Messi to add a third.

Lionel Messi – 9: With Luis Suarez rested the pressure was all on Messi to deliver the goods, and he absolutely did just that. The Argentinian ran the show for Barca, going close a couple of times in the first-half as Levante defended resolutely then notched the third and added a typically Messi-esque solo goal to round off the scoring. Missing a second penalty was the only blight on his copybook.

Munir El-Haddadi – 5: Thrown in to start for the first time since January, the occasion seemed to get to Munir. He looked bright and threatening but lacked a final ball. The injury suffered by Rafinha in midweek means Munir will inevitably get more playing time, but he needs to start taking his opportunities.

Sandro Ramirez – 5: This was Sandro’s first La Liga start and his senior teammates did little to help the youngster, giving the forward little to zero service.

Substitutes

Gerald Gumbau – 6: Given his La Liga debut in place of Busquets on the hour mark, and his main involvement was an important interception to deny the visitors
