Manchester City midfielder Samir Nasri has described new signing Raheem Sterling as “one of the hottest prospects in world football,” and is looking forward to the season ahead.

After a disappointing end to season 2014-15 which saw the club surrender their EPL title to Chelsea, Nasri said the club fell apart “mentally” but new aquisitions like Sterling could be the difference.

“Mentally we gave the title away really easy, so everyone wants to fight for their place now. We are not happy when we don’t win anything,” he told the press.

“It’s really good for his[Sterling] confidence and it is great for the team. We saw what he can do for us. It was a good start for him.

“He’s going to show you how talented he is.”

Nasri also spoke about the practicality of City’s tour in Australia, as well as the targets of the club next season.

“It’s a nice country but a little bit disappointed with the weather. We leave Manchester to go somewhere warm, but its colder than Manchester,” he said.

“It was good to play in a different system so we’re better prepared for the new season.

“We have a lot of good young players on this tour, some are really talented and they took their chance, its great for the future of Manchester City.”

On a personal note, the French midfielder is keen to put a 2014-15 season plagued by injury behind him as he looks to help City challenge the Chelsea for the title.

“A different season. I hope to be injury free. Last year I had many injuries and didn’t have a pre-season.”

“I hope to give them what I couldn’t last season.”
