Melbourne City kept their top two hopes alive with a come-from-behind 3-1 victory at home to Central Coast Mariners.
The away side opened the scoring on 33 minutes through a wonderful solo effort from Mitch Austin, who burst through one-on-on and converted with conviction from a tight angle.
After the break City responded in quick fashion after an inch-perfect Aaron Mooy free-kick was nodded in by Paddy Kisnorbo from close range.

A-League top goalscorer Bruno Fornaroli then missed a hatful of guilt-edged chances, before City won a stonewall penalty after Nick Fitzgerald was brought down by Jacob Poscoliero.
After a long interval, due to a sickening Storm Roux injury, Mooy stepped up to the spot and drove his penalty into the top right-hand corner.
City all but sealed the game just three minutes later, following a well worked move that saw Ben Garuccio squeeze the ball in from the near-post past a despairing Paul Izzo.
Mooy put the icing on the cake with a sublime free-kick in the 100th minute to enhance City’s title credentials and compound Mariners’ misery.
Here are some of the best reactions from Twitter:
Wow, what a free kick by Mooy. Ending the day wonderfully for City. As for Mariners, a day that they wish it didn’t happen. #MCYvCCM

Aaron Mooy has been more than a class above everyone else today. I’ve literally not seen as much as a misplaced pass. Great talent #MCYvCCM

Not every foul on the pitch is a yellow card & not every foul in the penalty area is a yellow card… #MCYvCCM

Dear rookie @FOXFOOTBALL TV director. Don’t re-invent the wheel. Close-ups look lovely, but not when A PENALTY IS BEING TAKEN!! #MCYvCCM

In terms of suspensions/injuries Mariners couldn’t have a worse day, unless Walmsley rips into the refs post-match and cops a fine #MCYvCCM

Surely Ferreira should cop extra games for aggressive dissent after he was given his red. It was a foul looking at that replay #MCYvCCM

While it’s a bit of a shitty call.. The way the players carry on and disrespect the referee is disgusting @ALeague #ALeague #MCYvCCM
