Newcastle Jets had to come from behind to earn a 1-1 draw against the Brisbane Roar at Hunter Stadium earlier tonight.
Both sides probed for opportunities, but largely cancelled each other out in a scoreless first-half. The Jets should have been ahead, but Braedyn Crowley’s shocking miss from inches out on a wide open net was probably the highlight of the early stage.
The second-half provided the fireworks as an individual spark would be required to break the deadlock, provided by Jamie Maclaren who stormed his way into the box on the end of a through ball and took a touch around a defender before slotting it into the bottom corner. Scott Miller’s men would fight for the result on their home soil though, Ben Kantarovski getting the final touch as the Jets scrambled an equaliser over the line following David Carney’s corner on the 70 minute mark.
