Perth Glory have defeated Melbourne Victory 3-2 in a thrilling yet controversial contest at nib Stadium on Saturday evening.
Perth Glory scooted ahead to a 2-0 lead with two goals in the space of two minutes from Andy Keogh and then Diego Castro.
Victory looked in trouble, but Besart Berisha provided a lifeline just before the interval following some delicate interplay between he, Fahid Ben Khalfallah and Jason Geria.
Berisha then levelled the ledger after the break with a rare goal from a corner.
However, despite the quality of the play, much of the online conversation centred around the polarising decision to send of Khalfallah after he kicked out at Glory new boy Shane Lowry. The Tunisian was initially issued with a yellow card but was handed a straight red after referee Kris Griffiths-Jones entered into dialogue with the linesman and fourth official.
The ref was again the centre of attention in the final 10 minutes, pointing to the spot after adjudging Nick Ansell to have pushed Andy Keogh in the back. Castro stepped up and converted with a panenka.
That is where it ended, here is how Twitter reacted.
Perth Glory should be docked 3 points for playing Bound For Glory pre match #PERvMVC

— Kurt T (@kurt_trew) January 30, 2016
Well it’s violent conduct, kicking out at an opponent, so it’s a red card. #PERvMVC.

Replays show it was pretty soft but even still FBK should know better. Still no excuse to put your team in that position. #PERvMVC
