Liverpool and Arsenal played out another classic at Anfield on Wednesday night in a see-sawing encounter.
A brace from Roberto Firmino – his second a world-class strike from just outside the box – wasn’t enough to earn the three points, but substitute Joe Allen’s late volley deservedly earned Liverpool a point.
Simon Mignolet was culpable for both of Liverpool’s goals conceded from a Aaron Ramsey near post shot and a messy corner which was deflected by Giroud through the grasp of the shot-stopper.

The second half matched the intensity of the opening 45 minutes as Arsenal began to flex their muscle and Olivier Giroud delivered an emphatic finish after controlling well in the box.
Arsenal tried to see the game out and continually invited pressure in the final 20 minutes and they were made to pay by Allen in the dying moments.

If Giroud hadn't missed that sitter, we'd have won.
League titles come down to those moments.

Well done #LFC we never gave up, showing great spirit & fight until the end. Still just 5 points off 4th. Bring on United!

Do Liverpool fans think they won that game or something? You’re 9th, 12 points behind us and you drew against us. Pipe down.

Also Arsenal fans should give credit to Joel Campbell he made things difficult

Brendan Rodgers left us with a weak squad but Jurgen Klopp is wringing performances out of them. Few Jurgen signings and we'll be alright.

Some 24 hours for Liverpool. Amazing comeback against Arsenal and pocketing a £600,000 sell-on fee for Jonjo Shelvey. #LFCvAFC

Frustrating for @Arsenal. Players look exhausted (yet no subs until late?!). Not an excuse for the carlessness of the first 25 though.

Wouldn't be a Liverpool match if I didn't have to sit down and contemplate life after it.

Left it late, but there's no way we would have deserved to lose that game. We gifted them goals. Spirited comeback in the end. #LFC

Nothing less than we deserved there. Outplayed Arsenal for long spells, especially first half. Never gave up and got our reward last minute.

Probably a fair result. But can't help but feel disappointed… #LFCvAFC

As a Goalkeeper you either put a man on the front post or except responsibility for that area yourself. Do neither=Goal. #Mignolet #LFCvAFC
