Adelaide United secured a crucial 1-0 win over a struggling Perth Glory at Hindmarsh Stadium this evening.
The home team opened the scoring in the first three minutes, with Pablo Sanchez latching onto a long ball and darting past two Glory defenders to chip the ball over Ante Covic. The goal spurred Adelaide United into an early period of dominance, as Perth’s defence continued to look vulnerable.
Perth Glory’s best chance of the half fell to Sidnei Sciola, who was thwarted by confident custodian Eugene Galekovic. It was a case of both goalkeepers displaying their talent, with Ante Covic also pulling off a number of important saves to keep the Glory in the match.
The second period saw a more even contest, but finishing from both sides left a lot to be desired. Adelaide striker Bruce Djite endured another goal less match, putting into question the big striker’s spot in Guillermo Amor’s starting line up.
An attendance of just 6,205 highlighted the effect of the coordinated active support group boycotts this round, with the Red Army walking out in the 30th minute.
Although not a particularly engaging match, Adelaide United will gladly take the three points as the club looks to breathe life into its struggling A-League campaign.

End to end stuff involving Carrusca and Castro. Easily could have seen a second goal in this game but some desperate defending. #ADLvPER

If Djite scored half as often as he inexplicably fell over in the box he'd be the A-League all time leading goal scorer. #ADLvPER #aleague
