Juventus manager Massimiliano Allegri remains coy on Paul Pogba’s future, declaring the French star still firmly a part of the Old Lady setup.

Allegri fronted the media ahead of his sides International Champions Cup opener against Melbourne Victory at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) on Saturday night.

Rumours have swamped the tabloids for weeks linking Pogba to his former club, Manchester United, for what would be a record fee.

Juventus have constantly dismissed any links to a potential transfer and Allegri himself believes the player will remain, while neither confirming or denying anything.

“At the moment Pogba is a Juventus player, we do not know what’s going to happen because in the market, anything can happen,” he said.

“Regardless, we have brought in four world class players, Dani Alves, Miralem Pjanic, Marko Pjaca and Medhi Benatia. From now until the 31st August anything can happen, but we feel confident that by the end, we will have a team that can compete to win every competition.”

Allegri believes tomorrow’s clash will be vital in his teams pre-season preparations as the Bianconeri aim for a sixth consecutive Serie A title in 2016/17.

Juventus head into the match without several key stars who were left behind due to participation in international tournaments with their respective nations. However, Allegri admitted the match against the Victory will be a chance to give his youngsters some game time, whilst also being a competitive fixture..

“We know it will not be easy to play against Melbourne Victory, they are a team who have won the league title three times,” he said.

“Unfortunately not everybody will be available due to being owed their rest from playing in tournaments in Europe and South America. I will have a chance to give everyone some game time,” he continued.
