Recently, football star Joleon Lescott came under fire for tweeting a picture of his supercar ‘accidentally’ shortly after a huge defeat. Aston Villa fans were enraged, as the player was on the wrong side of a 6-0 Liverpool loss. He isn’t the only sports star to head to social media to show off their cash, though he may have been the first to tweet a picture of his car from his pocket.

Ipswich player Chopra quickly deleted his social media account after tweeting a dubious photo that he was sure to regret. The player was leant £250K by his club in order to pay off some gambling debts that were following the player around, which is why it’s better to play free bingo games without card details. The tweet that got everyone’s blood boiling was a stash of cash that the player had stuffed in a bag and shared with the online world. The tweet and his Twitter were swiftly taken down when the backlash began, though some pictures of the cash still exist.

Very few people in the world can claim to have as much money as Cristiano Ronaldo, though the Portugal player may have showed this off in the least opportune of ways. In a YouTube video he took viewers around his mansion and presented the home in all its glory, though only for a few minutes. His massive spa was the main star of the video and this was enough to turn just about every viewer green with envy. The house is one that any person would love to own and all the gadgets make for a pretty amazing home.

After a round at the casino, Phil Bardsley was pictured laying on a pile of notes as more were thrown on him. This infuriated fans and his manager alike, as Sunderland natives were extremely unhappy with the show of wealth. The players in question were dropped from the match the next day, due to their unprofessionalism. This picture had huge consequences for Bardsley, and hopefully he learned not to be out late before a big game.

Finally, the one that sticks in most football fans’ minds is the infamous picture of Liam Ridgewell using cash as toilet paper. This was one of the strangest ways to show his wealth and fans were perplexed at the picture that seemed to show his disrespect for his wages at the club. He stated that he had never meant for anyone other than one friend see the picture, as it was part of an inside joke. He made a public apology after the fact and made his excuses to fans at the time, though not many are likely to forget that image.
