Danny Rose put the fire in Tottenham Hotspur’s title chances with a late goal against Swansea at White Hart Lane, after originally coming from behind on Sunday.

Substitute Nacer Chadli put Spurs back in the contest with an equaliser seven minutes after coming on the pitch before Rose scored the winner.

Kyle Walker had a goal disallowed after being ruled offside late on but Tottenham had done enough to secure the three points.

Swansea took the lead slightly against the run of play, after a shot was deflected into the path of Alberto Paloschi, who slotted it past Hugo Lloris.

Lloris had already saved Spurs early on, with an instinctive save to stop a close range shot.

Tottenham came close in the first half, including a chance through Christian Eriksen from a free kick, but it was brilliantly saved by Lukasz Fabianski.

Lloris kept Tottenham in front with a superb save at the other end to deny Paloschi in the last ten minutes.

Tottenham Hotspur

Hugo Lloris – 8: Made some outstanding saves, including one very early on in the game. Could not have done anything better to stop that first goal.

Kyle Walker – 7: Went forward time and time again, played a smooth ball through to Kane who was ultimately ruled offside.

Toby Alderweireld – 7: Made a good block in the first half to stop Paloschi from possibly making it 2-0.

Kevin Wimmer – 6.5: Solid performance in the continued absence of Jan Vertonghen.

Danny Rose – 7.5: Got forward, but was shown a yellow card for an uncontrollable tackle on Andre Ayew. Shot from 35 yards out and caught sweetly. Scored the winner for Spurs.

Kieran Dier – 6.5: Coping well in that holding midfield role, particularly in the absence of the influential Moussa Dembele.

Dele Alli – 6: Didn’t play his best game today.

Son Heung-Min – 6: Chased everything that came his way. Played okay considering he has been coming off the bench a lot.

Christian Eriksen – 7: Had a shot from a free kick around the 52nd minute mark which was taken extremely well but also superbly saved by Fabianski. Struggled a little to find that perfect pass of his.

Erik Lamela – 5.5: Was substituted for Nacer Chadli.

Harry Kane – 7: Inspiring to come and play after having surgery just four days ago, had several shots but couldn’t find that perfect finish.

Neil Taylor – 6.5: was part of a Swansea backline which played extremely well and were unlucky.
