Swansea, managerless and in the relegation zone, were held to a fitful 0-0 draw by West Ham at the Liberty Stadium.

It certainly is trying being a fan of these two clubs at the moment. Swansea, with one win in their last 13 games, have given their supporters precious little to cheer about at home, and are still looking a little lost and tired. West Ham, blighted so by injuries, have now ground out three successive 0-0 draws on the spin. Bar a terrific shot from Jack Cork and a couple of half-decent penalty appeals, Swansea did little to get the heart racing here, as their strikers continued to misfire, and their possession grew stale. West Ham shuddered this week as Andy Carroll joined the list of injured players – his, though, will only sideline him for a week or so – and are, as a result, totally stripped of any attacking potency.

The match was a firm, spasmodic contest, with half-chances, and sudden fine shooting, but little in the way of genuine moments of clarity. Slaven Bilic set out his team to defend first and foremost, even making mostly defensive substitutes, which is unlike him when the game is in the balance. Alan Curtis welcomed Jonjo Shelvey back from injury, albeit only to the bench, and returned Andre Ayew to the starting lineup alongside Bafetimbi Gomis.
