The Reds can actually score goals

Brazilian Roberto Firmino may have collected the man of the match award courtesy of two goals and a marvellous pass for Jordan Henderson’s clinical finish, but the Reds showed that they do have players who can step up and score when needed. OK, the opposition wasn’t flash. In fact, Norwich City, with 43 goals conceded this campaign, has the second-worst defensive record in the league, but the confidence the Reds will have gained from scoring five goals (not to mention the three they grabbed in the Cup replay against Exeter City) is immense.

Another positive is that all of Liverpool’s goals were well-taken, but a big question mark hangs over Christian Benteke’s head, with the Belgian stuck on the bench until replacing skipper Henderson in the 76th minute. Lallana’s last-gasp strike also injects more confidence. Not only was it the England international’s first of the season, it was also the game-breaker that could prove to be a turning point in the current campaign.
