West Ham continues to impress

After amassing wins against Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester City, West Ham have now claimed the scalp of Premier League champions Chelsea. In front of a quietly confident Upton Park crowd, despite being a man-up after a red card for Nemanja Matic the Hammers had to weather an early storm of second-half pressure by the Blues, which resulted in an equalizer through Gary Cahill. However, the advantage eventually showed as they began to find space more easily and when substitute Andy Caroll headed in Aaron Cresswell’s cross from the left flank, it was reward for the team’s efforts. With the likes of Dimitri Payet and company firing, third placed West Ham have a genuine claim for a run at the top six.

Leicester City motor on

Yet another good win was secured by Leicester at home to Crystal Palace and another good performance recorded. They won by the solitary goal, but the game was evenly matched throughout and took an odd path, slow and cagey with both teams engaged in a purely tactical battle.

However a Palace mistake was severely punished by the man of the moment Jamie Vardy, who was played through by Riyad Mahrez and then sumptuously lobbed Wayne Hennessey. The Englishman now has scored seven goals in his last eight outing and has 10 to his name overall. Claudio Ranieri definitely has Leicester ‘tinkering’.

Watford adapting nicely

A Great away win for Watford means the newly promoted club are really starting to find their feet. The partnership involving Troy Deeney and Odion Ighalo is really blossoming fruitfully and the two have a telepathic understanding with one another. Crucially, the Hornets are tough to beat, which is what one needs to stay in this league, as a side cannot be so expansive on the field due to the amount of quality. The result at the Brittania derailed a winning streak for Mark Hughes’ men and sees Watford in a comfortable position on the table.
