Jedinak’s rare cameo.

Mile Jedinak was brought on just as West Ham’s Carroll entered the fray, Pardew matching muscle and height with muscle and height. Jedinak, such a stalwart of Palace teams of the very recent past, has been a scarce member of the first team under Pardew. Here he did much as could be expected, although he might have won a tackle or two. Pardew obviously favours James McArthur, but Jedinak’s talents shouldn’t only be reserved for moments when a large opponent needs another large player to mark him. A move to Stoke City fell through at the last during the transfer period, and Jedinak has been starved of playing time, bad news for Australians – and international Jedinak fans, of which there must be, conservatively, billions – everywhere. Our Jedi is more than just a chaperon for Andy Carroll, and deserves to play more than he does.
