West Ham, aided by Dwight Gayle’s red card, overpowered a resilient Crystal Palace, easing eventually to a 3-1 away victory.

Alan Pardew has drawn just one of the 31 matches he’s overseen since taking over at Crystal Palace so, even though this match was mostly spent locked at 1-1, a decisive result was never really in doubt. In the end, the league’s away specialists, West Ham United, ran out winners, finishing the match with a wide collection of attackers on the pitch. If it wasn’t already apparent to all; Slaven Bilic wants to win matches, and all of his substitutions were offensive in nature, even with his team holding a numerical advantage. West Ham had said advantage thanks to Dwight Gayle’s brain-fade and subsequent dismissal, and used it to great effect, scoring twice in the final six minutes. Crystal Palace had been highly competitive, but were a little blunt, even before Gayle’s departure. Yohan Cabaye scored from the penalty spot for the third consecutive match, but it meant little in the end, as Lanzini swept home the winner, and Payet added the final coat of gloss with a cool chip.
