Pep Guardiola is just one of many managers scrambling to put together the best possible team ahead of a Premier League season stacked with some of world football’s star names.

Following today’s news that Leroy Sané has completed his move to Manchester City, the gang at oulala.com have taken a look at how the 20-year-old compared to Kevin De Bruyne, Nolito, David Silva and Raheem Sterling last season in their respective leagues. Focusing on goals and assists, the stats show that Sterling’s place in Guardiola’s first team is under serious threat following City’s new arrivals.

Having transferred from Liverpool for a staggering £49 million, based on his return it is fair to say Sterling was one of 2015-16’s biggest flops. The English youngster registered six goals and just two assists, taking four hours on average to make an impact on a game.

This is a stark contrast to the team’s new arrivals. Sane seems to have caught Gaurdiola’s eye at Schalke, netting eight individual goals and providing six assists for teammates across 33 appearances. Signing with Man City at the beginning of July from Celta Vigo, Nolito not only brings experience to the attack, but also venom after he put away seven goals and notched up 12 assists.

Will Pep’s imports be too much for Sterling to compete with?
