Manchester City had to come from a goal down to snatch a crucial victory in stoppage time via a clinical Kevin De Bruyne strike against Sevilla last night.
Yevhen Konoplyanka gave the Spanish side a much deserved lead just before the half-hour mark, but an unfortunate Adil Rami goal gifted the Sky Blues a way back into the match through WIlfried Bony only moments later. The result was the third 2-1 in all of City’s three Champions League outings, winning two and losing one.
The hosts were by far the second best team on the pitch, especially in the first-half, but showed strong character to fight back and get the much needed victory in a tough group. The win leaves City in second place behind Juventus and a positive showing in their next match away to Sevilla might just ensure Manuel Pellegrini’s side progression into the next phase of the competition.
